Ord-East Kimberley Expansion Project
While much of the world and Australia is facing uncertain times, the East Kimberley is fortunate to be entering a period of rapid growth, capitalising on its unique advantages and striving to meet the needs of its residents and visitors.
The Ord-East Kimberley Expansion Project is a key focus for the State Government of Western Australia over the next few years. $220million from the Royalties for Regions program is committed to this project to expand the irrigated agriculture base of the region from 14,000ha to 22,000ha.
The Australian Government has committed $195M to partner with the State’s investment to ensure that the social and community infrastructure and services keep pace with the growth resulting from an expanded agricultural base.
Co-ordination of the Ord-East Kimberley Expansion Project is being delivered by an integrated local community and Government approach.
The Department of Regional Development and Lands is responsible for the rollout of the program. For more information, please go to their website: http://www.royaltiesforregions.wa.gov.au/ord
