Departments
The functions and services of the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley are broadly divided across four Departments. For more detailed infomation, please click on the department heading.
Engineering and Regulatory Services
The Engineering and Regulatory Services Department is responsible for providing a broad range of services including Road Maintenance, Waste Management, Cemeteries, Animal Control and also has an Environmental Projects Officer.
Community Services
The Shire provides community services and facilities such as recreation and leisure, child care and public libraries and contributes to community safety, access and inclusion, youth and community wellbeing, social planning and interagency responses to local community issues.
Corporate Services
Council’s Corporate Services team provides support to the organisation in the areas of finance, human resources, customer service, records and information technology. The Executive Manager of Corporate Services is also responsible for management of Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley airports situated in Kununurra and Wyndham.
The Development Services Department incorporates the Bulidng, Health and Town Planning services of the Shire which includes the preparation of Strategic Plans and Policies, Subdivision and Development Control, Land Use Planning, Zoning, Forward Planning, Management of Council-Owned Land, Road Names, Compliance of Residential Design Codes, Home occupation applications, Building and Demolition Licences, Pool Inspections and Approvals, Environmental Health, Reserving Land for Parks, Roads, Schools and Civic purposes.
